When I got home from worktonight I went looking in my closet for more pics and stuff to scan because it dawned on me that there were specific things I wanted to scan but weren't in the boxes of pics that I had, so-far, unearthed. Well, I found them and as soon as I came out of the closet.....um, let me re-phrase that,...as soon as I got to the table where my pc sits, I couldn't wait to go through them. This was the first item I came across and I cried "happy" tears for about 10 minutes. I'm a VERY sentimental guy.
You'll notice it is signed "Brayden". He is the eldest son of my sister Linda (she's id'd in a couple previous pics) and the card/note was written roughly 10 years ago. At the time the note was written I had friends that lived in the mentioned city , Surrey, (for those of you not familiar with the Lower Mainland of BC, Surrey is not too far from Vancouver). These friends had a son roughly the same age as Brayden and I was always going to visit them and I would occasionally take Brayden with me on, What I guess you would call, a "play date".
He gave me this completely out of the blue (well, not "completely out of the blue"...his class was asked to fill out the "I love you because..." cards, but I was the one he thought of!) When he came home from school, all he told his parents was that he had a present for Uncle Gerry (my middle name that I went by for the 1st 30 years of my life until I decided that I preferred the name Alex - my actual first name).
My "happy tears" stoppped about 20 minutes ago but just typing this made me sorta tearied-eyed!
