Random bits

shortly after i had taken my faceplant onto the sidewalk i was visiting a very good friend. her three year old was at the table showing me his various "boo-boo's" and "owies". then he asked me how i had gotten my "owie" (my face and forehead were all scraped and cut). so i told him I fell. he asked me if i tripped so i said "yeah, yeah, that's it..i tripped" he replied with the following. "well, that's why you gotta chop trees". it was sooo cute cuz he had a very serious, thoughtful look on his face.

I've kinda adopted "chopping trees" as a mantra of sorts. When i feel like having a drink i think "nah, i'm better off just chopping trees"

Well, i was left off restrictions at the recovery house a day early. so i am at the library all by myself. I feel so grown up! I even crossed the road by myself to get here! :)

Well, congrats on the early release from restrictions. Must mean you're doing pretty good then. :o)

Hey, whatever analogy you need to use to get your mind off drinking, go for it. Chopping trees is as good as anything, and it's tied to a nice memory, which is a plus.

Happy Friday and weekend!

Love and hugs,

Diane

I got off early (that sounds soooo wrong! :) ) because I HAVE to go to an AA meeting everyday and because all the senior people were either sick or otherwise unabble to be my "buddy" for the day they just said I was "released" early.

"chopping trees"...I like that. I like that alot. Its amazing how much wisdom children can have, yet they lose all that wisdom growing up, and turn into regular folk like us.

That is possibly the best mantra ever.

Diane : you have yourself a good weekend too. thanks for all the support. I've come a long way for a "heathen", haven't I? lol

Anonymous (although I know who you are) If this kid grows up to be half a s wise ass his mom he should be twice as smart as most people around him. He's got a good start with her as mommy.

Jessica (ironically enough that's the friend who's child "gave" me the mantra!) - it is a pretty cool one, isn't it? I'll have to get him something cool for christmas when it rolls around.

Glad things are going well for you and that you are doing well. Chopping trees is a great analogy--you start off with one chop...and then it is just one chop at a time. Same way with one day at a time. Glad you are behaving yourself. Continued best wishes.
