First of all, I would like to thank you all for your support. This one wasn't so bad because I went into it with no disillusions. Plus, I'm positive she knows and has stayed my friend, hasn't altered her routine as far as how she treats/interacts with me. That's always the best cure. She's an awesome person. To Diane J. : She's on my facebook, can u figure it out? hahaha
Anyhow, on to the "almost got fired today":
I go to work today and one of my bosses was there and "wanted to talk to me" (that just NEVER sounds good...lol)
So I go into the office, shut the door, and sit in the infamous "red chair of doom".
(At this point I am COMPLETELY baffled. I may not be the most talented guy in the world but I pride myself on my work ethic.)
Well it turns out that a customer (who has ALWAYS gotten the best service from me) came in yesterday and wanted to pump his gas before paying for it (it's the law in BC as of feb 1/08 - a law I am entirely in favor of despite the bitching we have to put up with) and told the people on at the time that "oh, Alex always just buzzes me and asks how much" Which is a complete lie. In BC if a station is found to violate that law (ie : do what this customer said I did) they are subject to a half million dollar fine. So you can see why they were pretty much fire me whe I got there today. I was able to persuade them that this person was full of shit but now I am walking on eggshells. It seems to be a tenuous belief in me. I guess it's because I'm seen as a nice guy who will do pretty much anything for you. I can't blame my bosses for believing him I guess. What pisses me off is that someone who's never gotten anything but the best service from me would use my name and tell a lie about me. I'm choked.
Seems my heart just has to get broke every couple years is all.Other than that, everything's fine and I'm back to being the same old smart ass that you all know and love.

What, you mean you almost got fired for real? I was reading along thinking, "Oh, the boss and the customer are playing an April Fool's trick on him!" But no, it's all for real?

That customer probably had no idea what he was getting you in to and was just trying to convince whomever he was speaking with to let him get gas before paying. Some people can't see past their own hand when making a decision.
Yes, I was almost fired for real. Teriana hit the nail on the head.
Oh, and I never have to see past my own hand when making a decision, cuz usually the decision is "which hand?"
