The past couple weeks have seen a passing of the guard as far as my idols go.
Ric Flair ( the greatest wrestler of ALL TIME EVER BAR NONE) wrestled his last match. He was the Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretzky and Bill Gates (combined)of his profession. Nobody ever did it better. Like it or hate it, you have to admit that pro-wrestling is a brutal way to make a living. Ric Flair did it and was THE BEST at it for 36 years AFTER breaking his neck in a plane crash! 36 years of being the best when you shouldn't even have been playing the game says something whether you like wrestling or not.
The other individual I would like to speak about is Trevor Linden. He recently played (by all appearances) his last game in the NHL. He played all but 3 years (in the late 90's - early 00's) in a Vancouver Canuck uniform. He is "MR. Vancouver Canuck" to virtually every person in this province. Nothing I can say would adequately describe how we sports fans in BC feel about "Trev". So I won't even bother to try. I'll just say : Thanks for all the great memories Mr. Linden.
