stuff of the top of my head as I sit here watching tv.
whats the point in having judges on these realty shows like American Idol if the results are determined by audience voting? And another thing : People will generally vote for the "home town " person, regardless of talent so a person who is obviously better than most but comes from a town/city of 1000, compared to an "ok" singer that comes from a place like, say, New York, is at a disadvantage. No? I really think that the judges have more say than is let on.
Have TV writers become lazy, or forgotten how to spell complete words? Seems like a lot of shows are initials these days. CSI, CSI:NY, NCIS, etc. I see the day coming where actual names & even initials are too much and we will get shows called "Sitcom" , "Police Drama" "Sci-fi Show", etc.
I have to see "Blades of Glory" , the new Will Farrell movie. All that guy has to do is stand there and I laugh. He is my favorite comedy star.
The new (to be released in 2008) Star Trek movie will apparently examine the earlier careers of Kirk,Spock, & company as cadets at Starfleet Academy. It would seem a no-brainer to have Shatner and Nimoy (at least) have cameos. Although it would be cool,I wonder if it would be a good idea? A lot of times when the original actors make short appearances in remakes of the roles that made them famous, it is usually after such a long time that a lot of people may not even realize who they are. (Jack Larson , Kirk Alyn & Noel Neill in assorted Superman movies come to mind) This isn't the case with William Shatner & Leonard Nimoy. I suspect if they are in it at all it will be as Kirk & Spock - perhaps settling down to reminisce about the academy days as a way to kick the movie off. Or to end it in a similar fashion. I just don't see how they could make cameos as chracters other than Spock & Kirk.
Flashback to the recent Academy Awards : is Helen Mirren not one hot older woman? boy she was smashing looking.
Did anyone watch that new show "Raines"? I thought it was pretty good, showed some promise. I like Jeff Golblum so I will give it a chance.
OK, that's enough for now. Hope everyone stays healthy and happy.
